FW 4001: Biometry
Course description
This course covers the basic foundations of statistical methods. In contrast to traditional methods of teaching statistics based on analytical formulas and hand-calculations, we initially explore fundamental statistical concepts through active learning exercises on the computer. Students have opportunities to analyze real data from a variety of fields, including data they collect themselves. Lastly, they gain experience using the R programming language, which has become the lingua franca for ecological statistics (and data science more generally).
